How to Identify Search Intent Before Writing
Use the live SERP to infer what searchers want, then build the page around the task rather than a keyword label.

Read the modifier
Modifiers such as “how,” “best,” “price,” “near me,” “review” and “vs” provide useful first clues. But do not stop there because identical wording can behave differently across markets.
Inspect page types
Open the results and classify the dominant destinations. Tutorials imply a learning task; product pages suggest purchase intent; lists and comparisons suggest evaluation.
Study titles and snippets
Titles and snippets reveal the angles Google repeatedly surfaces: beginner framing, current-year freshness, step-by-step process, templates, pricing, examples or other needs.
Look for SERP features
Videos, forums, local packs, shopping units and featured answers can reveal important format expectations that ten blue links alone would miss.
Write the content brief
Turn those observations into a brief: user goal, required format, core questions, evidence needed, differentiators and which related pages should link in and out.
